Yes, CUBE allows you to use custom sample locations. This includes storing samples on an external or alternative drive from the main installation.
Note: It is generally not advised to change the default installation location of CUBE expansion packs, as they are relatively small in size.
- Locate the default sample install location:
- Mac: Open a Finder window and press Shift-command-G , then enter the following location: ~/Library/Application Support/Lunacy Audio/CUBE/Expansions and select the location that appears.
- Windows: Open File Explorer, then paste the following location in the address bar and press enter: {USER}\AppData\Roaming\Lunacy Audio\CUBE\Expansions
- Open the expansion you want to install on an external drive, and locate the Samples folder.
- Move the Samples folder only to the desired location on an external drive.
Warning: It is important to leave the rest of the expansion folder in the default location for CUBE to function properly. - Now CUBE needs to be directed to the new location. To do so, open CUBE, then select the Settings icon.
- In the Settings sidebar, select the Change Sample Folder Locations button.
- In the Sample Folder Locations modal, a list of sample folder locations appears. To change a sample folder, select the Set Folder button to the right of the desired sample pack.
- In the file browser, navigate to the Samples folder in another drive that you want to use, then select Open.
- If successful, a green checkmark (✓) appears next to the folder path in CUBE.
- If unsuccessful, a red X appears next to the folder path in CUBE. This is likely due to the Samples folder not being selected.
- Select OK to close the modal, and select the X in the top-right of the Cube Settings sidebar to close the settings. Your samples are now successfully located and can be used in CUBE.
