Why is my CUBE audio crackling or choppy?

If you are on Windows, be sure to use a dedicated audio driver and not the default Windows Audio Driver, which may result in choppy audio.

For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an ASIO driver, especially when working with audio applications like CUBE.

Adjusting Buffer Size in Reaper

If you are using CUBE as a plugin in Reaper, follow these steps to adjust the buffer size:

  1. Open Reaper and navigate to Options → Audio → Device.

  2. Select a dedicated ASIO driver for optimal performance.

  3. Set the buffer size to a multiple of 8. Good starting values are 256, 512, or 1024.

  4. Restart Reaper to apply the changes.

  5. Test CUBE to ensure the audio issues are resolved.

Adjusting Buffer Size in CUBE Standalone

If you are using CUBE in standalone mode, adjust the buffer size directly within CUBE’s audio engine settings:

  1. Open CUBE standalone.

  2. Navigate to the audio engine settings.

  3. Increase the buffer size to a multiple of 8, such as 256, 512, or 1024.

  4. Test the audio to confirm the issue is resolved.

You may also want to adjust your buffer size to be a multiple of 8. Try changing your buffer size to 256, 512, or 1024. CUBE is optimized for standard buffer sizes. Larger buffer sizes may result in less crackling or choppiness.

Buffer size directly impacts audio performance by determining the latency and processing time. Testing different buffer sizes can help identify the optimal setting for your system.
